‘re-creation’ of a 100+ year old playing card deck
this client had a dream to re-create the deck of playing cards used on the Titanic. Kirsten hand drew the art for the back of the card for a ‘feel’ as close to the original as possible. every detail in this deck was fine tuned: from unique ‘aging’ effects on each card to ‘chipping’ the color on the card backs (replicating 100 years of wear and tear). This was an amazing project from start to finish!
translating an artist’s vision
artist Derek haffar came to me with a single deck of cards that he had painted by hand and typed on his type writer. The challenge was to recreate his creation into a digital format so that decks could be printed with the United states playing card company. this was an invigorating collaborative process that bridged the worlds between paint brushes, typewriters, and computers.

telling your story with a card deck
joseph cellars winery came with a fantastic set of original drawings and desired to make a card deck out of them. kirsten used their drawings & vibe, formatting it into a visually stimulating (and functional) playing deck. Special touches like the wrap-around imagery on the box and silver foil closure seal really make this deck ‘pop’!

this client had a vision that they had been working on for years. working from the guidance their original sketches, kirsten built this deck piece by piece with detailed communication along the way to get this ‘just right’. no detail was overlooked in this one and a truly one of a kind deck was born.

a special hands-on project of creating a 64 card deck + packaging for a vibrational healing practice based on 5 Element acupuncture. each piece of this deck embodies an intentional frequency to speak visually and energetically. The goal was to present this transformative healing art in an easy and digestible way for anyone and everyone to use daily.
designer Playing Card set
this deck was designed for prominent podcasters as a ‘thank you’ to their supporters. The clients desired to play on the original look of the court cards while having thier likenesses, inside jokes, and symbolisms added. kirsten created their custom art and pips to make this deck 1000% unique to them.
word game card design
Remastering the 'look' of 'Wordmaster': a card game whose previous design was done in the early 1990s. I work with clients of all kinds. Some come to me knowing exactly what they desire me to do, and others just know how they desire it to feel. This project was a mix of both. The card 'backs' are completely new. The card fronts and box received a style update with a new typographic set. This custom deck was printed by Bicycle / The United States Playing Card Company.
